Shay

Hi All,

My next post was suppose to be on my new blog but I had to share this. Steve just forwarded this email to me. It made cry tears of joy and I hope it touches your life as much as it has mine. enjoy.

At a fund-raising dinner for a school that serves children with learning disabilities, the father of one of the students delivered a speech that would never be forgotten by all who attended. After extolling the school and its dedicated staff, he offered a question:

'When not interfered with by outside influences, everything nature does, is done with perfection.

Yet my son, Shay, cannot learn things as other children do. He cannot understand things as other children do. Where is the natural order of things in my son?'

The audience was stilled by the query.

The father continued. 'I believe that when a child like Shay, who was mentally and physically disabled comes into the world, an opportunity to realize true human nature presents itself, and it comes in the way other people treat that child.'

Then he told the following story:
Shay and I had walked past a park where some boys Shay knew were playing baseball. Shay asked, 'Do you think they'll let me play?' I knew that most of the boys would not want someone like Shay on their team, but as a father I also understood that if my son were allowed to play, it would give him a much-needed sense of belonging and some confidence to be accepted by others in spite of his handicaps.

I approached one of the boys on the field and asked (not expecting much) if Shay could play. The boy looked around for guidance and said, 'We're losing by six runs and the game is in the eighth inning. I guess he can be on our team and we'll try to put him in to bat in the ninth inning.'

Shay struggled over to the team's bench and, with a broad smile, put on a team shirt. I watched with a small tear in my eye and warmth in my heart. The boys saw my joy at my son being accepted.

In the bottom of the eighth inning, Shay's team scored a few runs but was still behind by three.

In the top of the ninth inning, Shay put on a glove and played in the right field. Even though no hits came his way, he was obviously ecstatic just to be in the game and on the field, grinning from ear to ear as I waved to him from the stands.

In the bottom of the ninth inning, Shay's team scored again.

Now, with two outs and the bases loaded, the potential winning run was on base and Shay was scheduled to be next at bat.

At this juncture, do they let Shay bat and give away their chance to win the game?

Surprisingly, Shay was given the bat. Everyone knew that a hit was all but impossible because Shay didn't even know how to hold the bat properly, much less connect with the ball.

However, as Shay stepped up to the plate, the pitcher, recognizing that the other team was putting winning aside for this moment in Shay's life, moved in a few steps to lob the ball in softly so Shay could at least make contact.

The first pitch came and Shay swung clumsily and missed.

The pitcher again took a few steps forward to toss the ball softly towards Shay.

As the pitch came in, Shay swung at the ball and hit a slow ground ball right back to the pitcher.

The game would now be over.

The pitcher picked up the soft grounder and could have easily thrown the ball to the first baseman.

Shay would have been out and that would have been the end of the game.

Instead, the pitcher threw the ball right over the first baseman's head, out of reach of all team mates.

Everyone from the stands and both teams started yelling, 'Shay, run to first!

Run to first!'

Never in his life had Shay ever run that far, but he made it to first base.

He scampered down the baseline, wide-eyed and startled.

Everyone yelled, 'Run to second, run to second!'

Catching his breath, Shay awkwardly ran towards second, gleaming and struggling to make it to the base.

By the time Shay rounded towards second base, the right fielder had the ball . . . the smallest guy on their team who now had his first chance to be the hero for his team.

He could have thrown the ball to the second-baseman for the tag, but he understood the pitcher's intentions so he, too, intentionally threw the ball high and far over the third-baseman's head.

Shay ran toward third base deliriously as the runners ahead of him circled the bases toward home.

Shay, run to third!'

Shay reached third base because the opposing shortstop ran to help him by turning him in the direction of third base, and shouted, 'Run to third!

As Shay rounded third, the boys from both teams, and the spectators, were on their feet screaming, 'Shay, run home! Run home!'

Shay ran to home, stepped on the plate, and was cheered as the hero who hit the grand slam and won the game for his team

'That day', said the father softly with tears now rolling down his face, 'the boys from both teams helped bring a piece of true love and humanity into this world'.

Shay didn't make it to another summer. He died that winter, having never forgotten being the hero and making me so happy, and coming home and seeing his Mother tearfully embrace her little hero of the day!

I hope everyone is having a Happy Thanksgiving! I actually cooked this year! It's true, I did. I have spent the day... wait Steve is telling me to stop working... Okay back to typing... with family, cooking, and getting a Christmas tree. A way fun day! Tomorrow is going to be great as well as we will be with my family and decorating for Christmas! (and will probably slip in some working)

Anyway.. don't tell Steve but I'm about to work. I'm offering a Christmas special. Now until Dec. 4th I am taking 20% off Christmas cards orders. I have 5 design options or you have the option of just a photo on the front.

So, I'm working on Lindsey and John's wedding and I came across this image that Steve took. As one of my favorite brides started to shiver while I was photographing the guys. I thought "Self, Lindsey is cold. I have a jacket.. give her the jacket. And Steve ended up getting this super cute shot of her in my jacket watching us take formals.

Lindsey and John's wedding was on Oct 24th. It was absolutely elegant, gorgeous and perfect! We started out at St. Regis where the girls got ready and did a few formals before heading over to the Country Club.

I'll start with shoe…. Glorious shoes! ( and her dress! )

Lindsey was such a stunning bride! I heart St. Regis! It's the most amazing hotel ever!!

I have to admit I want to show so much it's hard to pick which ones to show! Fab details, formals, ceremony, more formals and the reception, more reception details! Whew. Lots o' good images!

They decided to see each other before the ceremony and this one of my faves!

And just one... sigh one formal! It was so hard to narrow it down to one.

The ceremony was great with details that are fab! I'll show them later. :)

I had the opportunity to photograph a wedding at Jekyll Island! And I am headed back this weekend! Holly and Justin were great... Justin was so great he and his groomsmen climbed a tree. We were at the Beachview Club and the ceremony was held under a canopy of trees it was absolutely fab! Okay on to some photos.... I'll start with some photos of the location and ceremony.

We didn't spend a lot of time on the beach but we did get a few images!

I have been so excited and waited in anticipation for what seemed like forever for their wedding. It finally arrived less than two weeks ago! I am also looking forward to their day after session at my new fave spot the old factory.

I absolutely had a blast photographing her at a salon in Athens.

Have I mentioned I love shoes? If not.... I LOVE, HEART, LOVE SHOES!

So, excuse me while I brag for a second. After she got finished putting her shoes on she started to drop her dress and I caught this image and I love it.... okay I'm done bragging.

We were very lucky in that there was a car show going on by the church and ... um ...

Andrea and Rusty

This is another one of my favorite couples this year! Here's their story of how they met and got engaged!

Andrea and Rusty met in Arkansas one night when they were out with friends. Rusty remembers seeing her in line waiting to go in and said he had to talk to that girl before the night was over! After being inside for awhile one of his friends asked Andrea to dance and while they were dancing he told her how Rusty wanted to talk to her, but wasn't sure if she would talk to him or not. Rusty eventually came up and talked to her and was trying to win her over by saying he "had a sports car that she should imagine myself in with the windows down going across the Memphis bridge." What Rusty didn't know was she was different than a lot of girls...and the fact that he had a sports car did not impress Andrea in the least. That is exactly what she told him. Andrea totally played hard to get for months and even his friends said whatever you are doing keep doing it cause we have never seen Rusty like a girl so much. He finally won her over when she saw the pictures the children in his class drew for him at his house. He worked with children with disabilities. They dated for a couple of months and eventually became a couple. Rusty believes when he saw Andrea it was love at first sight and she would some day be his wife, however the feelings weren't so much mutual until a while later! After about 4 years of being together Rusty proposed. It was right after Christmas and Andrea's family was in Atlanta visiting them and their close friends were at their house. Rusty made a steak dinner with wine and champagne for all of them. Andrea knew something was up, and kind of knew what he was up to... Rusty had put her ring in a Christmas stocking over their fireplace and told her how much he loved and cared for her. He told her to look inside of the Christmas stocking. He had put the ring inside the stocking. It was so meaningful that he wanted to share the moment with their family and friends. After getting engaged they went out with friends and family to celebrate!

So, the rest are formals. They are one of those couples that let me do whatever I wanted!!! Behind the venue was the coolest old factory so we shot there for a few minutes.

Another couple that made the "best of" list this year! Congrats Genevieve and Robert. YOU ROCK!

They had a super great wedding at a beautiful venue called The McGarity house.

The brides room had this great old mirror. How could I not use it?

The ceremony was held under crab apple trees. It was fantastically awesome!

Genevieve is absolutely stunning. I absolutely loved photographing her.

These next three ....are well, my favorite images of a child from a wedding. She was super shy and then all the sudden noticed me and got closer and closer to me. And then as if she were say "TA DA! I made it to you" with arm stretched out in celebration of me taking her picture.

How awesomely awesome is this light?!?!!!

Robert loves cigars and had a theme going... He invited a super cool group of cigar aficionados.

Ahem, so first up is Ester and Matthew (they totally rock)!!

Lindsey and John are a super fun couple! We ended up having a lot in common.... Steve was there as my second photographer. He normally doesn't get to shoot engagement sessions with me so this was a special treat. We (well....John and Steve) talked football while Lindsey and I talked wedding details!

Beth and Evan

Beth and Evan are one of my favorite couples this year! I am so looking forward to their wedding.

Beth emailed me their engagement story and for the engagement session we went back to the place where they got engaged. It was so super cool!

Evan and I got engaged at Calloway Garden's on October 25th. We spent all day walking around the gardens and enjoying the beautiful fall day. Later in the afternoon he surprised me with a full body massage while he got to watch the UGA vs LSU football game. Before dinner we decided to take a walk around the Lodge and Spa where we were staying. Evan proposed right before dinner on the beach by our hotel. That night we celebrated with an amazing dinner and enjoyed the rest of the night! It was perfect!

Hi! I had a busy weekend and will post some images soon of all the engagement sessions I have had and weddings!

Also, after a double wedding weekend (that were awesome) Steve and I went to the N. Carolina for an overnight trip. I'll share a few pictures we took.

This one isin't as sharp as I would like it to be but for not being behind the camera I think it's okay. Plus it wasn't in the steady place. The next one the camera was sitting on a picnic table. Much sharper!

Shannon and Rory (sneak peak)

Shannon and Rory got married at Atlanta Botanical and it was gorgeous! They too had rain in the forecast. It ended up being a perfect sprinkle during the ceremony with a calm breeze that cooled off the day perfectly!

This is going to be a great mix of sneak peaks! Some formals, details, and a happy shot of Rory right after they got married!

They got ready at The W on 14th street and we were able to get a few formals before the ceremony and this is a top fave! Isn't she absolutely fab!

Lacy and Rick

So, I might be breaking my own rules. I'm going to post pictures without a story!!! You guys.... let me tell you how awesome Lacy and Rick are. She was so incredibly sweet and calm despite the fact she had to change plans to see Rick before the wedding b/c of the rain threat. Then it did rain right when the ceremony was suppose to start. I'm normally super good about making rain go away or a storm turning into sprinkles (last weekend). I'm not sure what happened to my skills. It actually did not matter b/c the wedding was awesome! Anyway, I have never seen such a gracious, kind, willing to do anything couple and wedding party! Ya know I love it when couples let me do anything and give me complete creative freedom. The rain came in and left and quickly and the ceremony was filled with tears of joy. It was absolutely awesome.

I'm going to start with Steves images. :) The first two are right before the ceremony began and I absolutely love them!

Abagail and Bill

A perfect day... with great weather, venue, bride and groom and details.

I'll start with their proposal story.

Two big things happened on September 1, 2007, Georgia's first game of the season against Oklahoma ended in a victory for UGA and Bill proposed to me.

After five years of not taking a summer vacation, Bill and I finally decided to be brave and leave our two dogs for a week to go on a vacation to San Diego, California. Bill's high school friend Stephen was in the Navy out in San Diego, and we decided to go out there to visit him. Our first whole day in San Diego was spent sight-seeing, or at least that's what I thought we were doing. Apparently, Bill was really looking for a spot to propose to me. My favorite spot that I saw that day was Sunset Cliffs.

On September 1, our plan was to dress in our black and red outfits and find a bar in downtown San Diego to watch UGA's opening season game against Oklahoma. Leave it to a UGA fan to support the DAWGS even on vacation. Towards the end of the game, Bill saw that it was almost time for sunset. He quickly paid our bill at the bar and ran outside to hail a pedicab back to our hotel. Once back at our hotel, we hopped into our rental car and headed towards Sunset Cliffs. Bill wanted us to watch the sunset at my favorite spot. As sunset grew closer, our car started going faster. I told Bill "We can just watch the sunset tomorrow night." Bill yelled out "No! We're going to see it tonight!" Finally, we got to sunset cliffs. I found a spot on the rocks to sit on and watch the sunset. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I see Bill get up and get down on his knee. He nervously reached into his pocket, pulled out a gray ring box, and asked me to marry him. I started crying and said "Of course I will." I quickly called Mom from my cell phone to tell her the awesome news. However, Mom already knew it was going to happen. Bill had asked my Mom and Dad for their permission to marry me before the trip. She even saw the ring after he bought it. Once we got back to the hotel, Bill had champagne and chocolate covered strawberries delivered to our room. A sweet end to the sweetest night.

They absolutely love their dogs and even included them in the wedding (it was a surprise). So, I am going to start the post off with pictures of Buffett and Hugo.

Abigail and Bill got ready at their home. Bill upstairs in the "man den" and her downstairs doing make-up and hair. It was so cool to be able to photograph Bill playing with Hugo.

I absolutely loved her dress! It was her second choice and later Abigail revealed that her and her mom told each other that they knew I was going to love it when they got it! And Pink shoes! WOOHOO!

From the post below you know how gorgeous Abigail is so I thought I would post some of her handsome husband Bill. And the guys....

Bill was planning on surprising her at the ceremony by having the dogs be the ring bearers. It was absolutely perfect! AND the ever Awesome Reverend Deanna married Abigail and Bill.

So, um this is turning into a long post! Okay I'll try to pick less images but it's going to be difficult!

A few formals and then we'll move into the details. I may have to save the reception for another post...

The Details were fab and the flowers were outstanding. This is the first time I have worked with Heather with Stylish Stems and I would highly recommend her!

I found this super cool room in that old factory I'm shooting in more and more. WOOHOO! I didn't see that space before and wow it made for a super cool shot!

Jeff and I have been together 10 years, so in that amount of time, I'm sure you can imagine all the times that I wondered, is this going to be the time he asks me??

Right before Christmas, he asked me if I wanted to take a trip in February, so in the back of my mind I thought, oh, could that be when he proposes? A week before Christmas we went to the Melting Pot. I just thought he had gotten a craving because we love the melting pot and usually go once a year.

I was trying to decide what to wear and mentioned something about jeans, and he said no jeans. I thought that was a little odd, but really didn't think a whole lot about it. He said it was a celebrating Christmas dinner.Anyway, so we get to the restaurant and we have this in very back table w/ a dozen roses and rose petals scattered all over. I thought, "how pretty!" and he said merry Christmas and some other stuff...can't really remember everything. The waiter asked if we were celebrating anything special and he said, "no just Christmas."

I was just asking him a bunch of questions on how the flowers got there and all that and he said, well I spoke to your father the other day...and that's where it all kind of went blank...I know he doesn't just chat w/ my dad. I even had to ask on the car ride home, now what exactly did you say?? He pulled out the ring and said that he had asked my father if we had his blessings and would I marry him. Seriously, after he said that about my father, I thought, wait...is this what i think it is??? and finally it was!! :)

How awesome is that story! I hope you guys are liking reading about my couples. They are so awesome!

Luke and Amber

Luke and Amber's first date took place in a Canoe on the Chattahoochee river. Luke an avid outdoorsman and had paddled and fly fished more than 15 years and was excited to share this with Amber and she was excited as well!

The date took place in 2006. The date was going pretty well, stopping along the way so Luke could fish. Then he decided to tie the boat off at a huge rock, fish and let her sit on the rock and enjoy the sunshine. Well they began approaching the rock and on the right side of the rock the water was about a foot deep but on the left side of the rock there was a steep drop with trees that had fallen into the water and some pretty fast moving water. Luke told her to stand up in the canoe and put her foot on the rock, she did not want any part of this. So she said just take the boat to the right side of the rock and I'll step out and walk over. Luke refused and asked her to do it again. The boat suddenly got caught in a current and swung around and they were headed for the drop off. Amber fell out of the canoe into the 45 degree water and as she came up for air, what did Luke yell at her? Grab the fishing rods! So she grabbed them as they floated by and threw them to him. Luke was safe in the boat but he did lose his ore, she had the other one. So there Luke is going down the river, literally without a paddle, all the while yelling to Amber don't move I’ll come get you. Luckily a kind kayaker had grabbed Luke's paddle and brought it to him.

Luke comes to get Amber out of the waist deep freezing river, and the boat is half full of water. As they floated down the river in complete silence Amber cannot wait to get to her car so she never has to see Luke again, and all Luke can think about is how upset he is that he has never flipped his canoe!

Months went by and they would exchange occasional emails, with time laughing about the date and deciding to at least be friends. In December of 2006 Luke called Amber out of the blue to apologize. They talked that night, but nothing came of it as Amber was leaving to go on Christmas Break. Finally in March of 2007 destiny would take its course. Amber was looking for a new car and it happened to be right down the road from where Luke was working. Amber stopped by his shop hoping he could knew where the car place was. He did, and as she was leaving he asked if she wanted go to dinner. They went to dinner that night and Luke says he knew he would spend the rest of his life with her, and now they are married 3 years after that fateful first date!

The wedding day was filled with emotion and fun! As you can see in these photos! I'll start with the ceremony. I love the Luke is excited about seeing Amber walk down the isle!

And I love the moment Steve caught after the ceremony.

The eversofabulous (Yeah. I combined 3 words...what??) couple Erin and Blake. They got married back in Feb on Valentines day in fact! It was a great way to spend the day!

Erin was happy to share her story of how they got engaged.

Blake asked me to marry him on April 11th 2008. I flew up to N.C. one weekend on a Friday and on Saturday we went to a beach party his platoon was having before they deployed to Iraq. He decided that we should take a walk on the beach. Well still being April it was really windy and still kind of cold. We walked a good ways and we found little rocks to write in the sand with and wrote funny, cute messages to each other until i finally told him my ears were freezing and i was ready to go back. Blake got this look and said "no no no no! not yet!" i was like why?? lol.. So he bent down and the rock he was using and wrote "Erin will you marry me?" in the sand. Of course I said yes and the planning of the wedding started! He deployed to Iraq on April 21st 10 days later so the wedding planning was pretty much left up to me. But to this day I still have the rock he wrote with! So that's the story of Blake and I...

They got married at The Atrium in Norcross.

I love that her shoes had hearts on them... how fun is that?

The wedding was late in the evening and the formals were suppose to be outside and it was um dark... to say the least. The venue was awesome though in the way that they had what I call (and most photographers) twinkly lights aka Christmas lights. And they were fab!

And again YAY for twinkly lights!

I had so much fun last weekend at Eileen's (Disco) 50th birthday party.... And I just happen to have my camera with me. Surprised? I think not! Anyway here are some highlights of our fun!

Speaking of April and Geoff... She's an old friend I recently got in touch with and love her! It's so great to have her in my life again and her studly fiance' is fab! Can I call a guy Fab? Hmmmm Anyway they are going to have a powerhouse of a team for her wedding. Brittany and Johnathan are one of those awesome couples that puts up with me saying.... it would be so great if you laid in this dirty rusty old print press in an old factory. I was so excited when they said yes to going and shooting at an old factory. We all got dirty and hopefully didn't get any sort of poisoning. haha No seriously it was great... and dirty as you'll see in the some of the photos. I also took another couple there as well! I'll post about them as soon as I get their story ... check back soon it's a super awesome session.

I absolutely love Brittany and Johnathan's story hopefully you will as well!

We met in Food's class in high school. He was a senior and I was a junior. As soon as we met it was obvious that we had crushes on each other. Everyone knew it, but nothing happened at first. We just kinda flirted and became good friends. I was actually dating one of his friends at the time, but I joked with our food's teacher about how I knew one day I was going to end up marrying him. Then when I was a senior we went on a few dates, but nothing serious happened. We stayed friends and kept in touch. During the summer after my first year of college, we ran into each other at a Weezer concert and ended up hanging out afterwards. We've been together ever since.
A week after he proposed, I got a friends request from our food's teacher on facebook and I was able to tell her that I'd been right all those years ago...I was going to marry him!

This first one is just one of the many super cool buildings we had to work with.

These next shots were pretty much shot in the dark. The first one was so dark I had to use a light to focus and then turned it off to capture the cool color and the neat shadows on the wall.

I'm super excited about photographing Jerrice and Richard's wedding at the Biltmore!

Jerrice and Rich met September 30, 2005 outside of a party in Midtown Atlanta. Both were out celebrating special occasions with their friends. Jerrice was celebrating her birthday a few days late and Rich was partying with his friends from OSU for Robert Frazier’s bachelor weekend. As they were both leaving for the night, an acquaintance of Rich’s randomly approached Jerrice and asked her if he could introduce her to someone. Jerrice said yes, and Rich’s friend then introduced them. As fate would have it from that first meeting, Jerrice and Rich have been courting ever since!

What can say about on of my cutest couples? I feel lucky to be a part of their day! I met them at another wedding Ceili and Brian and that was an awesome wedding!

Keeping up with the theme of telling you a bit about my Brides and Grooms here's their engagement story.

While on a mountain weekend trip with a group of friends, Kristin and Chris were playing one of their favorite games. After playing with another couple, Chris asked Kristin to stay outside to practice. After tossing a few bean bags, Chris tossed a one right to her. Surprised, she caught it and noticed some writing on it. It said "Will You Marry Me?" Before she knew what was happening he was down on one knee with a ring!

This was one of my most fun weddings! The guys were fun as you'll see and the girls were absolutely fab! Ever since the wedding I have been chatting it up with her and her friends on Facebook. Anyway, as part of my new tradition of telling couples story here is theirs about how they met. Ashley and one of her friends were out playing this game called photo hunt (sounds awesome!). She couldn't figure out a photo and saw him walking with a friend so she asked for their help. They didn't see each other for a bit and then Micheal started working at the same place her girlfriends did. She went there a lot and they talked and after about three months he was working the door and said he was glad to see her and wanted her number! So, the next day he called and set up a date. They got ice cream, and hung out most of the day having fun and laughing non-stop (this does not surprise me they are SO fun!) And they have been together ever since!

The guys were also having a great time going to get pizza and playing football.

Okay, so those of you that know me know I can be um a little emotional and that I love my job. Right? Well, I have to admit that after this wedding I got a new perspective on shooting a wedding. I am going to be super honest here.... oh gosh! I have been very focused on formals lately and have grown to LOVE them. I feel I have lost a bit of the photo journalistic side of me. It all came back at this wedding. Since there was very limited time for formals I realized that the moments were more important and the memories were what took precedent in this wedding. The laughter and love was very present. So basically what I'm saying is for the first time I felt super free to focus on moments and emotion and I'm thankful for what they helped me remember.

The reception was awesome with tons of fun and awesome dancing!

I'm not a big fan of having my photo taken but Steve is getting me use to it. Anyway, Ashley and the girls wanted a picture with me so .....

I photographed two couples engagement pictures this weekend so look for those stories and photos! They were fab couples!

Hi All,

So this year I am incorporating a new type of post about couples. I am going to post stories of how couples met and got engaged. A little get to know my fab couples post!

My first couple up is Heather and Ronnie and she choose to tell me how they met and this is their story.

Heather and a friend went to her old job (Diggers) for some cocktails and with the intent on going to the hockey game with a fairly large group of people. We were trying to figure out who was going to ride with who, and we finally figured out that my friend and I were going to have to squeeze into a little Honda Accord with about 8 people...haha... so we were preparing to either be crammed like sardines or drive ourselves. We started heading out of Diggers and I hear blaring, loud, piped roaring music.... with a total of three guys in a truck. The driver yelled "Why don't ya ride with us to the hockey game." So without thinking... we got into the truck (probably not very smart!).... On the way we had the windows down and the music blasting and all I could look at is the guy driving! By the time we got there it was about time for the hockey game to start so everyone headed that way. We all purchased tickets from the nosebleed section and started to the seats. There were about 20 of us, so of course I'm sure you can imagine that was a long trip.. with beverage and food vendors EVERYWHERE. If you did not realize this by now..Ronnie (now my husband was the driver of the truck). Everyone made it to their seats and I got a seat next to my friend and a guy that I had worked with.... we were having soo much fun. Then a few of us left for moment to get some drinks and when I got back I decided to mingle... a couple of rows up. Well bout 2 minutes later the guy that drove me walked up and looked at me...with his hair spiked up and his Kiss T shirt on... and sat down.. apparently I was in his seat...(like I didn't know!) haha So he sat next to me and we started talking and talking and talking.. "He was the man of my dreams!" After that night we have been inseparable.. and we both knew we would be together forever! Now we are husband and wife and have a little baby girl.. and we are the happiest family in the world!

How cute is that story! I would love to see what he looked like with spiked hair! I totally LOVED their family and friends. It was seriously an awesome wedding. Okay with no more delay here are some pics! They again were up for any suggestions I had for formals and well... I must say these are some of my fave images. I know, I know I say that almost every post. :)

Engagement sessions galore.

I have had a ton of sessions, and lots of fun with some of the most awesome couples!

I'll start with Amy and Zack .... which by the way they rock! We went to Little 5 points for the session.

This might get long so I am just going to show my absolutely fave image from Erin and Blake ... okay two.

Matthew and Ester. Totally love them! They changed clothes and we decided to sneak a shot in the UGA library....

And when I see an awesome shadow ... I gotta use it.

Eva and Eric engagements session was um.....SOOO cold. Eva rocked it out by being Tyraish and I hardly noticed she was cold... well until the sun started to drop and it got windy. We all were cold but still managed to get some stunning images.

I cannot say enough about them! They are super awesome and again let me do anything I wanted... as you'll see in the photos. I'm so excited b/c in a few months I get to see this awesome family again!! I am photographing her sisters wedding as well. YAY!

They got married at The Day Chapel in State Botanical Gardens. This is one of my favorite location pictures.

If you look at my blog often you might have seen Jordons dress hanging in the trees well.... here are her shoes.

Formals, formals and more formals. The first is from outside the Day chapel. The rest are from some areas around Athens. They planned an hour and half to go to the Arches, the stadium and any where else I wanted to go. Aaannndddd we did find a few extra spots that I HAD to photograph.

I'm still going to post the Day after session and the reception from St Thomas . Also, I have an engagement session galore post I'm working on!

I am so excited about next year. With 28 weddings already booked I have to say the year is looking awesome! I have fantastic couples at fantastic venues and yes one destination wedding! This year has also been amazing. I am so thankful for my friends and family and how supportive they are all!

I do have one (only one) goal for this year. It's a big one so that's why there's only one...

The goal is to lead a green life and run a green business and to be super healthy (eat organic and home cooked meals from scratch.) Wait, is that two goals? Oh well. I have two goals. The good news is I have already started to live this way (recycling etc) so this year I am just going to kick it up!

More from St. Thomas yay! The first two days we were there it rained in the afternoon. Well, the day of the wedding I told Steve it's going to be sunny and that's that. And sure enough it did NOT rain! The weather was perfect. Here are a few of my fave's from the ceremony.

So, I am starting the month out right with all my album designs done, (2 matted ones left though) I'm almost caught up on weddings and sessions, and am working on orders. AND we got a Christmas tree yesterday. Yes, in the rain but if you just picture the drizzle as white fluffy snow flakes it was fun and we have the cutest tree ever!

We were debating about whether to get a tree with roots and plant it, or recycle our tree and turn it to mulch. As much as we both don't like plastic trees we did check into it. Steve came across an article that indicated that plastic trees were much more of a waste than we had ever thought. Check out more info from Treehugger

It is going to be a great day I can feel it! The smell and sounds of coffee brewing, the thought of spending time with family and eating gud food!

Okay so maybe everyone might be doing a list of things they are thankful for and yes I'm going to do a short one as well but with a twist.

I AM THANKFUL TO BE ABLE TO DO WHAT I DO!! I am also thankful that Elizabeth and Peter are in my life! This is the first of 4 or 5 posts from St. Thomas.

Friday night fun!

So, for the first weekend in forever I had a weekend off. Well, I do have sessions but no wedding. Ally and Eileen also had the weekend off. It was kinda weird I have to admit.

So, we went out with Ally and her husband Chris and Eileen and her husband Clay.... It was a total blast! First we went and had dinner and then went bowling! Oh, my gosh it was so much fun and here are some pics to prove it....

So, um I'm back from St. Thomas and the best wedding ever! I so LOVE Elizabeth and Peter, their friends and family. OMG after the brunch on Sunday when we were saying goodbye as Steve and I walked away I started to tear up. I did not want to leave! It wasn't about leaving the island it but it was leaving them. I don't how to express or how to put it in words how wonderful everyone was! They made us feel part of the group and IT...WAS...AMAZING!!!! Okay I'm done with the sappy stuff. Ahem. So, do you wanna see some pictures? Do ya? Okay here ya go! Wow, it was hard to pick sneak peak pic's.

I'll start with one of Steve's.... yes... that's right awesomeness you get the first picture posted! I absolutely love this shot!

This was the view from Havana Blue where the reception was held.

So ya know I had to take advantage of the light.

The rest are a few from the day after/Trash the dress session. I am saving some of the best for later. This is just a teaser.

You may remember Danielle from a previous post. I posted her bridals about a month ago. Oh and by the way sorry for the delay in posting!

I loved photographing Danielle and Jay.... the day, venue, weather and light was perfect. Here are a few of my faves from the day. They got married at Villa Serena in Conyers. It is an absolutely fab place!

I loved her flowers and colors...perfect October colors.

I love this location b/c I could move around and capture all kinds of moments during the ceremony.

Isn't the flower girl so cute!? I don't normally take pictures during a prayer but I couldn't resist.

Speaking of children they had the cutest flower girls and ring bearer. This next shot was during the formals. OMG the looks are priceless!

Okay and I know this image is out of sequence but this is her response to seeing what the groomsmen did to their car. (It was trashed!)

Moments like this make my job completely and totally blissful! When I can witness how much love a couple has for each other...

I have to admit I teared up when Jim proposed to Pam on The Office. Awwweeee, it was soooo perfect. The rain, them meeting at the spur of the moment. Ah, I love Love. I wonder if they would use me as their photographer hehe. And it was super funny as usual how could you not love Steve Carell!

I have an awesome weekend ahead a great session tonight, wedding tomorrow and Trash the dress session on Sunday! YAY!

I just want to say that this has been the best start to the fall season. Fantastic couples, weddings, and sessions. I am so thankful!

Here's another fab couple not just b/c we are going to St. Thomas for my first destination wedding (besides Fl) :) in a month and some days but b/c they are awesome!

I absolutely love this park they found. It's called Sope Creek. I LOVE IT!
I also love when couples are adventurous! I may have asked hem to climb and walk across a wall.... It used to be a Paper mill. I LOVE them for doing this! How many more times can I say love?!?

This is such a great location to get two distinctly different looks.

I had the wonderful opportunity to photograph one of my fav new couples in North Ga at Young Harris college a few weekends ago. We had such a great time and I got to see some awesome places.

The second location we went to was Fires creek..Loved it there!

So, Julie totally rocks we had such an amazing session! I have a ton to show but this was the last image. I took a chance and did something I have never done before (lighting) I have been studying super hard about how to light. I can see great natural light so now that I have that down .... what the heck why not use "fake" light!

I have to say they surprised me with what they were willing to do. I have been so blessed lately to have the most awesome couples and brides that use the phrase "we'll do anything and we trust you!" I LOVE that! Okay, so, I'm driving up to the church and see this awesome graveyard and think and say to Steve how awesome would it be to shoot in there! He of coarse agreed and was excited about the prospects. Now, I can't take credit for bringing up the graveyard. One of the bridesmaids brought it up as a joke and told them what I said. AND, And Lisa said yeah! OMG I was so excited so here are some pics of the girls.

Hi! Well, as you can see I have changed my blog a bit. I still have to make the images bigger....that might take a few days. Check out all the fab stuff I added to the right :)

I LOVE soccer uh huh it's true. My Boyfriends son starting playing this year. I went to one of his practices and loved it. Sigh, I never thought I would say but I love being a "soccer mom". Oh my gosh I think I even want one of those cute soccer balls to put on my car. Okay somebody stop me!!! I can't wait for his games this weekend (and my sessions or coarse).

Another new favorite thing I do now is Yoga. Who knew that it was awesome!?

It has been a fabulous summer! I had this weekend off and that's one of the last one's for a few months. I hope everyone had an awesome weekend! I did! I had a session on Sunday that was awesome and Steve and I went kayaking with friends on Saturday it was a total blast...and I might have gotten a um little sunburn. maybe a little.... OH and speaking of sunburns! I booked a wedding in St. Thomas in Nov. I absolutely love Elizabeth and Peter and cannot wait to spend the weekend with them!

I am so excited and thankful this morning!

We have started an organic garden and have our first, yes first organic tomato! To take it a step further and keep our theme of being green we collect rain water (Steve does) and use that to water our awesome plants! We are also growing basil. I know it's hard to grow but it's doing great!! I can't wait to add more veggies to our garden. It's not really the planting season so we'll have to wait... Although we have been considering a greenhouse.....

It's so awesome to live in our new home.

I am happy to say that one of my wedding couples Bill and Erin had a baby!! She is so incredibly cute! This is the first time I have photographed a baby....and I loved it! So, if you have a little one... I am photograph children and babies!

Project 42

I am excited to announce my new project! Project 42 stands for Love (4 letters) Is(2 letters).... This session is for couples that are already married. The idea is what does love mean to you? Do you love to play tennis, baseball, watch movies, hike or canoe? Do you have children or a family pet that you love? I want to document what that looks like. My first session was with Michelle with Lemiga event design and Dewayne. They love the movies and have two children. The first few are all about the movies and we were able to get in the Fox which was awesome!!

We did two days one for the movie shots and another with their children and family at Piedmont Park.

What can I say about this awesome couple except that they ARE awesome! It was a great day, ceremony, and a lot of fun!! I'll start with a shoe shot. Well... it's really a necklace/shoe shot.

I love this shot that my second photographer took. I was standing in a different spot so I didn't see Joe. As I was processing this I teared up. I love it when grooms get emotional.
